Day 1
Beijing.
Arrival in Beijing,stay the following 3 nights in central traveler class hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to explore the backstreet Hutong life in the heart of old Beijing.
Day 2
Great Wall.
Beijing.
Full day at leisure. Optional excursion to visit Great Wall Mutianyu which is farther,less crowded and greater in views.
Day 3
the Forbidden City, the Tiananmen Square, the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace
Beijing.
Full day at leisure to explore the city highlights like the Forbidden City, the Tiananmen Square, the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace etc before taking the overnight sleeper train to Xian.
Day 4
Xian highlights
Xian.
Arrival in Xian in the morning,stay the night in central traveler class hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to explore the downtown highlights like the Big Wild Goose Pagoda,the well preserved City Wall, the Bell & Drum towers, the Muslim quarter, and many great museums.
Day 5
Terracotta Warriors & Horses
Xian.
Day at leisure to explore. Optional excursion to visit the awesome Terracotta Warriors & Horses within the Museum of Emperor Qinshihuang's Tomb. Take the bullet seat train in late afternoon to Lanzhou. Meet the driver and transfer to the central traveler class hotel. Time at leisure.
Day 6
Labrang Monastery
Lanzhou.
Full day free to explore. Optional overnight excursion to visit Labrang Monastery which is the center of Tibetan study of religion,culture and life outside Tibet across Gansu,Qinghai and Sichuan provinces.
Day 7
the Han Dynasty tomb museum,the White Pagoda and the museum
Wuwei.
Time at leisure. seat train to Wuwei,a very important town on the old Silk Road along the Hexi Corridor,which has lots of historical and cultural relics. Meet the driver and transfer to the central traveler class hotel for the night. Free time to explore the city highlights like the Han Dynasty tomb museum,the White Pagoda and the museum etc.
Day 8
Zhangye.
Morning free to explore. Afternoon short ride by seat train to Zhangye,another very important stop on the old Silk Road.Free time to explore many interesting historical traces.Meet the driver and transfer to the central traveler class hotel for the following 2 nights. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 9
the colorful Danxia land
Zhangye.
Full free day to explore. Optional excursion to visit the colorful Danxia land form 30 km away to the east of Zhangye.
Day 10
Jiayuguan
Jiayuguan.
Morning at leisure. Afternoon seat train to Jiayuguan which is the far western end of the Great Wall. Meet the driver and transfer to the central traveler class hotel for the night. Free time to explore the finest Great Wall Museum, the Jiayuguan Fort which is the biggest of its kind on the Great Wall, and the First Pier of the Great Wall in Ming Dynasty.
Day 11
Dunhuang.
Morning at leisure to explore. Afternoon short seat train ride to Dunhuang,meet the driver and transfer to the central traveler class hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to explore the city highlights like the Museum,he Singing Sand Dunes, the Crescent Moon Lake etc. A short camel Safari is also an option.
Day 12
the Mogao Caves
Dunhuang.
Full day at leisure to explore. The highlight is undoubtedly the Mogao Caves which is a deep sea of culture,history and arts.
Day 13
Turfan.
Morning free to explore. Seat train to Turfan. Meet the driver and transfer to the central traveler class hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 14
the Grape Valley

Full free day to explore highlights of the town including the Gaochang Ruins,the Jiaohe Ruins, the Flaming Mountain, the Grape Valley, the Karez System, the Old Village and many more.
Day 15
Kuche.
Take the very early morning sleeper train to Kuche, the very important Silk Road stop on the northern rim of the Taklamakan Desert. Meet the driver and transfer to the central traveler class hotel for the night. Rest of the day at leisure to explore the highlights like the Old Town area,the Grand Mosque, the Bazaar etc.
Day 16
Kashgar.
Take the seat train to Kashgar, meet the driver and transfer to the central traveler class hotel for the following 3 nights in this culture-rich town. Rest of the day free to explore.
Day 17
Kashgar.
Full day free to explore the city highlights like the Old Town, the Id Kah Mosque,one of the biggest mosque complex in China with a total coverage of 16,800 square meters etc.
Day 18
Karakul Lake
Kashgar.
Full day at leisure to explore the Grand Bazaar, the biggest of its kind in central Asia area. Or, opportunity to take the excursion to visit the beautiful Karakul Lake near the China-Pakistan border.
Day 19
Urumqi.
Morning free to explore. Afternoon to take the overnight sleeper train to Urumqi,capital city of Xinjiang.
Day 20
Urumqi.
Arrive in Urumqi in the morning. Meet the driver and transfer to the central traveler class hotel for the night. Rest of the day at leisure. Optional excursion to visit the Heavenly Lake 45 km to the east of Urumqi. Opportunity to visit a local Kazakh family in yurts.
Day 21
Urumqi.
Tour ends after breakfast. Optional service of connecting flight to Tashkent, overnight sleeper train to Almaty, flight or train to other domestic cities of China are all available.
